Blast Hole Drilling
RedBull operates a fleet of 12 blast-hole drill rigs through our drilling division, TopRock Drilling. As a well established and successful 18-year old business, TopRock was acquired by RedBull in 2007 and the combined drilling fleet is now dominant throughout the North Island.
The TopRock drill fleet is comprised of:
- Six Tamrock Pantera drill rigs (1 x 900 series and 5 x 1100 series). These provide the high production capacity necessary for quarry blasting, drilling 89mm to 152mm diameter blastholes. Rigs are fitted with T1010 hammers and high-flow compressors of 350cfm. This is a modern fleet with the newest rig a 2008 model.
- Five Gardner Denver GD3500 drill rigs are ideally suited to construction site blasting in the Auckland region and quarries in the Pacific Islands. Two rigs are ROPS cab model and three rigs are cabless model suited to tight situations. GD rigs are smaller and quieter than most others and are suited to city environments in residential and commercial areas.
- One Atlas Copco ROC310 DTH Air-track with 750cfm compressor, which is suited to extremely small or tight situations and can be barge or crane mounted for difficult works.
- Five transporters are utilised to move rigs between quarry sites, with one transporter allocated to each front-line rig.
