Experienced Drill Operator

RedBull Powder Company manufactures a range of explosives products and provides comprehensive drilling and blasting services to quarries, mines and construction projects in New Zealand.

We are recruiting for an Experienced Driller to operate Top Hammer Drill Rigs to drill quality blast holes. RedBull service customers quarry and construction sites throughout the North Island so there is a requirement for overnight trips away and flexibility.

You will be required to;
• Efficiently and productively operate the drill rig to produce quality blastholes
• Comply with Safe Standard Operating Procedures and instructions
• Communicate with Drill Supervisor to understand daily work instructions
• Care and maintain the drill rig and equipment

You will need to have;
• 3 years drill operation experience drilling blast holes within quarries
• Full class 1 Driver Licence
• Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written
• Work safely and in line with Standard Operating Procedures and instructions
• Strong personal presentation, history of punctuality and high work attendance record
• Be fit and healthy with the ability to complete manual handling tasks
• Self-disciplined with enthusiasm to work, a positive attitude and a team player with the ability to work alone

Our drill workshop is located in Pokeno but daily jobs are spread between customer quarry and construction sites across the North Island. Ideally the successful applicant would be based in the North to Central Waikato region.

A company vehicle will be provided to get you between work sites, with the appropriate gear required to support safe and efficient drilling. Due to the distances covered and travelled you will be required to stay overnight so flexibility is essential.

This position is available for an immediate start and will report to the Drill Manager. You must be able to work effectively alone and independently, giving yourself self-motivitation to get through the work. But you must also be a team player and can work within a team where you will be contributing positively to RedBull’s strong values and culture.

HSEQ Coordinator

RedBull Powder Company manufactures a range of explosive products and provides comprehensive drilling and blasting services to quarries, mines and construction projects in New Zealand.

We are recruiting for a HSEQ Coordinator to provide support (administration and implementation) to the HSEQ Manager and functions required to deliver company objectives for all areas of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality.

You will be required to;

  • Along with the HSEQ Manager lead safety within the business
  • Support the business to achieve HSEQ targets and programs
  • Conduct internal audits and checks, report and provide feedback on areas for improvement
  • Conduct and support incident investigations and reports
  • Assist with the maintenance of the overarching HSEQ Management System.
  • Support wellbeing and injury management processed within the business
  • Continuous improvement projects
  • Contribute to the organisational vision of RedBull Powder and as a team member demonstrate the RedBull Culture with a good, positive attitude

You will need to bring;

  • Tertiary qualifications in health, safety, quality, internal auditing and monitoring
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience within a high-risk environment utilising tertiary qualifications
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Excellent report writing, presentation and communication skills
  • MS office competent
  • Ability to use your initiative, work proactively, pay attention to detail and strive to achieve excellence
  • Positive outlook, team collaborator and can self-motivate
  • Current full driver licence and clean criminal background

This position is available for an immediate start. Based from our Botany Junction office our company conducts business across the country therefore early starts and overnight stays are regularly required, therefore flexibility is a necessity.

Approximately 70% of the role is field based; driving to sites, training onsite, building rapport with operational staff, identifying hazards in real time and supporting audits and investigations. While the remaining 30% of the role is office based; systems management, data maintenance and cleanliness, report writing and submission.

MPU Truck Driver-Operator - Macraes Mine

RedBull Powder Company manufactures a range of explosive products and provides comprehensive drilling and blasting services to quarries, mines and construction projects in New Zealand.

We are recruiting for a Truck Driver to operate the bulk Mobile Processing Unit (MPU) at the RedBull operation based at Macraes Mine, East Otago. The MPU carries raw ingredients to the job site to manufacture bulk emulsion .

The MPU operator will provide timely delivery of bulk emulsion services and associated tasks in a safe, efficient manner and professional manner demonstrating the Company’s Values and Culture at all times.

The MPU Operator responsibilities include;

  • Driving and operating the Mobile Processing Unit (MPU)
  • Operating the emulsion re-pump unit and ancillary equipment
  • Maintaining the truck and equipment
  • Accurately completing quality control and through documentation
  • Providing support to the OGL Shot Firing Team

The role involves completing and supporting other activities that complement RedBull’s blasting services, including heavy lifting and manual handling therefore the role requires a team player who is fit, healthy and willing to assist on the bench, at the blast site or at the RedBull site to get the job done – the role is more than just driving the truck. The role is mostly based outdoors and can be physically demanding.

You will need to have;
• Class 4 Driver Licence, with truck driving experience
• Clean slate criminal background and no serious traffic violations within last 7 years
• Excellent communication and personal presentation skills
• A current Dangerous Goods Endorsement would be beneficial, but we can upskill the right applicant
• Be strong, fit and healthy to enter and exit the truck safely and for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks
• Quarrying or mining environment experience, especially in truck operating, is an advantage

Ideally the successful candidate would reside in the East Otago area.

This position is available for an immediate start and is rostered; 7 days rostered on and 7 days rostered off, (Thurs to Wed). The rosters cover weekends, therefore the role involves weekend work. Start time is 6.30am. Transport is provided from Palmerston to the mine site is available.
