RedBull Powder Company manufactures a range of explosives products and provides comprehensive drilling and blasting services to quarries, mines and construction projects, both in New Zealand and abroad.

RedBull Powder is recruiting an experienced Shot Firer to co-ordinate drilling and blasting activities for existing and new customers. The role will be based across Auckland-Waikato regions and would suit an applicant within these regions or looking to relocate to the region.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Support the company and your team to achieve zero harm by actively identifying and managing all hazards to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
• Shot design, loading and firing, utilising accurate blast design, survey and mark out practices.
• Handling, transportation and use of explosives in compliance with company operating procedures, all applicable laws and regulations and all customer site procedures
• Ensure all pre and post blast documentation is completed correctly and submitted on time.
• Ensure all explosive products are accounted for, explosive magazine stock books are kept accurate, and Dangerous Goods documentation is compiled and submitted as required
• Develop, maintain and enhance relationships with allocated customers through regular visits, inspections and support of their site blasting requirements, planning, safety guidelines and environment conditions.

Key factors to your success include:

• Hold a current NZ Certified Handlers Certificate / Controlled Substances Licence
• Ideally three years Shot Firing experience in quarries, in a range of geologies
• Capable of working independently as well as having the ability to motivate a working team
• Ability to develop working relationships with all stakeholders
• Clean and current Drivers Licence
• Excellent reporting and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proactive attitude and a desire to learn new skills

Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will be given clear instruction and direction to provide you with confidence in delivering the highest quality work and service levels to all customers. You must be able to work effectively alone and within small teams, contributing positively to RedBull’s strong values and culture. These positions do travel some distances within the respective region therefore some overnight stays are required.

This Shot Firers role offers a competitive salary band $80,000 to $120,000, with final remuneration set and agreed to the level of experience, training and knowledge of the successful applicant.

We are seeking a Technical Services Blast Technician/Engineer to join our team.

The Blast Technician/Engineer is responsible and accountable for providing consistent and superior full engineering and technical services support and advice to shotfirers ensuring a high quality end result for our customers.

You must have previous and current experience in being able to provide innovative solutions, data collation, information analysis and recommendations to blasting and construction projects that achieve safe and efficient blasting outcomes. It is imperative that you can review, understand and manage tenders, quarry management and blasting plans and have an understanding of various blasting methodologies.

You must be able to work effectively alone and be independently self motivated, but also manage team environments, working together and achieving successful balst outcomes. You must align and contribute positively to RedBull’s steadfast values and culture. This position will report to the Technical Services Manager, with day-to-day planning provided by RedBull’s operational team. 

RedBull services quarry and construction customers throughout the North Island so there is a regular requirement for overnight trips away, therefore flexibility is essential. Some work from home flexibility will be attained once the successful candidate is familiar with the business and role requirements. Ideally the successful candidate will reside near or in the Auckland or North Waikato regions.

You will be required to; 

• Comply with safe working procedures and instructions to achieve zero harm

• Communicate with a range of colleagues, from Managers to Shot Firers, and to understand daily work instructions and customers

• Carry out blast surveying and blast design

• Carry out blast / drilling quality control via bore-tracking 

• Prepare data for drilling rigs and upcoming blasts

• Set out of survey control points and blasts holes as designed using blast design software (GPS drills)

• Assist on bench with blasting operations

• Analyse blast performance pre and post blast, using modelling software

• Develop strong customer working relationships, both internal and external

• Identify and recommend improvements for blast results and efficiencies

• Ensure production goals are achieved by working collaboratively with the drilling and blasting teams

You will need to have;

• Tertiary qualification in an industry related/relevant field

• A minimum of 3 years experience in the same or similar role in Quarrying & Mining

• Full Class 1 Driver Licence, and can operate a manual vehicle

• Excellent communication skills

• Proven academic abilities and a desire to produce high quality work

• Motivation, enthusiasm, willingness to learn and a positive attitude 

• Good personal presentation

We are recruiting for an Experienced Driller to operate Top Hammer Drill Rigs to drill quality blast holes. RedBull service customers quarry and construction sites throughout the North Island so there is a requirement for overnight trips away and flexibility.

You will be required to;
• Efficiently and productively operate the drill rig to produce quality blastholes
• Comply with Safe Standard Operating Procedures and instructions
• Communicate with Drill Supervisor to understand daily work instructions
• Care and maintain the drill rig and equipment

You will need to have;
• 3 years drill operation experience drilling blast holes within quarries
• Full class 1 Driver Licence
• Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written
• Work safely and in line with Standard Operating Procedures and instructions
• Strong personal presentation, history of punctuality and high work attendance record
• Be fit and healthy with the ability to complete manual handling tasks
• Self-disciplined with enthusiasm to work, a positive attitude and a team player with the ability to work alone

Our drill workshop is located in Pokeno but daily jobs are spread between customer quarry and construction sites across the North Island. Ideally the successful applicant would be based in the North to Central Waikato region.

A company vehicle will be provided to get you between work sites, with the appropriate gear required to support safe and efficient drilling. Due to the distances covered and travelled you will be required to stay overnight so flexibility is essential.

This position is available for an immediate start and will report to the Drill Manager. You must be able to work effectively alone and independently, giving yourself self-motivitation to get through the work. But you must also be a team player and can work within a team where you will be contributing positively to RedBull’s strong values and culture.
