Technical Services Junior - North Island

RedBull Powder Company manufactures a range of explosives products and provides comprehensive drilling and blasting services to quarries, mines and construction projects, both in New Zealand and abroad.

We are recruiting a Technical Services Junior to join our technical services team, who provide blast surveying, engineering and technical services support to the company’s drilling and blasting operations. This role will begin as mainly survey and blast design oriented with both senior tech services and shotfirers, but will progress to include full blast technical services in time with training and experience.

You must be able to work effectively alone and within teams, contributing positively to RedBull’s strong values and culture. This position will report to the Technical Services Manager, with day to day planning from RedBulls operational teams.

RedBull services quarry and construction customers throughout the North Island so there is a requirement for occasional overnight trips away, flexibility is essential. Ideally the successful candidate will reside near the Auckland area, flexible on north or south of the greater Auckland area.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to;

  • Comply with safe working procedures and instructions to achieve zero harm
  • Communicating with a range of colleagues from Managers to Shot Firers to understand daily work instructions
  • Carry out blast surveying and blast design
  • Carry out blast / drilling quality control via boretraking
  • Prepare data for drilling rigs and upcoming blasts
  • Set out of survey control points and blasts holes as designed using blast design software (GPS drills)
  • Assist on bench with blasting operations
  • Develop strong customer working relationships, both internal and external
  • Ensure production goals are achieved by working collaboratively with the drilling and blasting teams

Key factors to your success include;

  • Tertiary qualification (degree or diploma), previous survey skills a bonus
  • Full Class 1 Drivers Licence
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good personal presentation
  • Proven academic abilities and a desire to produce high quality work
  • Motivation, enthusiasm, willingness to learn and a positive attitude

Blasting Assistant

RedBull Powder Company manufactures a range of explosive products and provides comprehensive drilling and blasting services to quarries, mines and construction projects in New Zealand.

We are recruiting for a Blasting Assistant to provide hands on support to the blasting crews and explosive delivery units. This is an entry level position, which is a great opportunity in becoming qualified as a Shot Firer and develop a long-term career.

You will be required to;

  • Comply with safe working procedures and instructions
  • Assist Shot Firer to prepare blasting activities on the quarry bench
  • Assist delivery trucks to pump bulk emulsion product into quarry blast holes
  • Assist Drillers to collar blast holes
  • Assist with other duties at the manufacturing plant facility, including assisting with production, maintenance, and housekeeping etc.

Our Plant is near Maramarua but daily jobs are spread between customer sites across the North Island, travel (overnights) will be involved so flexibility is essential. We are seeking applicants that reside in the South Auckland or Waikato regions.

This role can at times be physically demanding, is mostly based outdoors, will be supervised until fully qualified and will report to the Region Manager.

Successful applicants will need to be eligible to work in NZ, hold a current, unrestricted driver licence, pass a pre-employment medical, which includes drug and alcohol screening, and complete a Ministry of Justice check.

Blasting Assistant - Trainee MPU Operator

RedBull Powder Company manufactures a range of explosive products and provides comprehensive drilling and blasting services to quarries, mines and construction projects in New Zealand.

We are recruiting for a Blasting Assistant-Trainee MPU Operator to provide hands on support to the blasting crews and mobile processing delivery units (MPU). This is an entry level position, which is a great opportunity to developing a long-term career ideally as a trained MPU Operator. 

In this role you will be required to:

  • Comply with safe working procedures and instructions,
  • Support mobile processing delivery units to pump bulk emulsion product into quarry blast holes,
  • Assist to collar blast holes
  • And lend a hand with other duties at the manufacturing plant facility, including product production, maintenance, and housekeeping.

You will be supervised until fully qualified and will report to the Region Manager.

This role can at times be physically demanding and is mostly based outdoors in quarry and construction site environments. The ability to work alone and within teams is beneficial to the position, and in contributing positively to RedBull’s strong values and culture.

  • Strong personal presentation, be punctual and reliable
  • Be physically fit and highly motivated to work with a positive attitude
  • Own transport with current full Class 1 Driver Licence (Class 2 would be preferable)
  • Clean criminal background and no serious traffic violations within the last 7 years
  • Truck driving or industry experience would be preferred but not essential

Ideally the successful candidate would reside in the Northern Waikato, Franklin District or Southern Auckland area.

MPU Operator

 

RedBull Powder Company manufactures a range of explosives products and provides comprehensive drilling and blasting services to quarries, mines and construction projects across New Zealand.

We are now recruiting for a Truck Driver to operate a bulk Mobile Processing Unit (MPU). The MPU carries the raw ingredients to manufacture bulk explosives to the job site, so the position requires a professional truck driver with the ability to meet delivery targets in a proficient and safe manner. This role requires a team player who will be required to assist on the bench to get the job done – it is more than just driving the truck.

RedBull’s Plant is near Maramarua but daily jobs are spread throughout the North Island according to customer quarry and construction site locations. There is a requirement for overnight trips away so flexibility is essential.

  • 4 years truck driving experience preferred

  • A current Dangerous Goods Endorsement would be beneficial, but again we can upskill the right applicant

Drill Transporter Operator/Yard Hand

RedBull Powder Company manufactures a range of explosives products and provides comprehensive drilling and blasting services to quarries, mines and construction projects, both in New Zealand and abroad.

RedBull is recruiting for a Drill Transporter Operator/Yard Hand to facilitate RedBull servicing customers quarry and construction sites throughout the North Island. This job will consist of transporting our drills from site to site and helping in the yard with general duties.  Due to the vast area being covered there is a requirement for occasional overnight trips away.

There is an opportunity to move into a Trainee Driller role for the right candidate.

You will need to have;

  • Minimum Class 4 NZ driver licence
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written
  • Work safely and in line with NZTA rules and regulations
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures and instructions
  • Strong personal presentation, be fit and healthy with the ability to complete manual handling tasks
  • Self-disciplined with enthusiasm to work, a positive attitude

Our drill workshop is in Pokeno, but daily jobs are spread between customer quarry and construction sites across the North Island. Ideally the successful applicant would reside in the Northern Waikato, Franklin District or Southern Auckland area.
